Trailhead building. Construction should finish in Jan, 2010. Building is at eastern terminus. There is a paved 20 car parking lot at the trailhead. |

First stretch of trail, soon after leaving the trailhead and heading west. |

Trail crosses two of these abandoned railroad bridges, which have not been used for more than 25 years. Each bridge has another bridge immediately next to it, and 5 other abandoned bridges are on the property, but the trail will not cross them. |

Part of the stretch between the bridges is currently used by the city of Marion for access to the old city landfill, which is directly south of this stretch of trail. |

The eastern part of this first mile passes near a small lake, which was originally the source of topsoil for the landfill. This lake is not our property, although we'd eventually like to acquire it. |
