Wednesday, Sept 14: Park Board meeting: noon, Marion County building, in the Morral Room at east end of lower level.
Sunday, Sept 18: Tour of Owens Station: Did you know that there is a restored opera house on Owens Rd, SW of Marion? Owens Station was a "quarry town" with a train station. On Sunday, Sept 18 at 1:30 p.m. Dennis Mattix will give a tour and history talk. The public is invited. Bicyclists will meet at 12:45 at McKinley Park in Marion and ride out, or car riders can arrive at 1:30. The property has a covered bridge and an old cemetery. The property is located about halfway between Gooding Road and Dunbar Road, on Owens Road.
Park Board Meetings are open to the public. Meetings are normally from noon to 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of month, in the Morral Room on the southeast corner of the lower level of the Marion County building, 222 West Center Street, Marion.
