Although the Marion County Park District has received $455,000 in grants to purchase the land for a rail-trail and develop the first mile, these grants require 20 to 25% local matching funds. We will need to secure more grants to develop the rest of the trail, and will need matching funds for those grants.
There are several ways that you can help:
1) Make a tax-deductable donation to the Prairie Parks Foundation, a non-profit foundation set up to receive tax-deductible donations to help the Marion County Parks. Donations can be designated for specific uses.
