The Marion County Park District, in north central Ohio, includes five beautiful parks.

Marion Tallgrass Trail: This 12 mile corridor will feature Marion County's first multi-use recreational trail. We are actively seeking matching funds for this trail, so please consider a donation.

Terradise Nature Preserve, in eastern Marion County, offers a shelter house, hiking trails, geocaching, and peaceful reflection near the beautiful Olentangy River.

Greenspur, north of Prospect, features woods, a small wetland pond, and will contain a picnic shelter.

Myers Woods, near the Killdeer Plains Wildlife area in northern Marion County, is a wonderful place to take a short stroll in the quiet woods.

Caledonia Nature Preserve is a beautiful streamside forest near the village of Caledonia.

Advertisement for Bids

 

Sealed bids will be received for the Marion County Park District by the Marion County Commissioners office, 222 W. Center St., Marion, OH 43302 until noon on Fri, July 16, 2010. At 12:15 pm they will be publicly opened in the Morral Room, lower level at same address, and read aloud for the contract known as "MARION TALLGRASS TRAIL-PHASE I."

 

Such contract includes construction and installation of a multi-use asphalt trail, renovation of 2 railroad bridges for bike/pedestrian use and fencing at bridge accesses. The contract also includes erosion control and other appurtenances for a complete system to restore the area to its original condition and other work necessary to complete the Contract in accordance with Contract Documents. The inclusion of additive alternate bids could add construction of 384 linear feet of asphalt trail and aggregate pathways from the existing parking lot to the existing shelter.

 

Proposals must be made on the forms provided in the Contract Documents or a copy thereof and shall contain the full name and address of the Contractor. All bids shall be sealed and plainly marked "MARION TALLGRASS TRAIL – PHASE I. "

 

 

Copies of the plans and specifications must be obtained by Contractors from the Floyd Browne Group, 3769 Columbus Pike, Delaware, OH 43015. Cost for each set of plans and specifications is a non-refundable $50. Registration is required to be a Contractor.

 

A pre-bid meeting will be held by the Park District in the Morral Room at 1:00pm on July 7, 2010. The estimated contract award date is Wed, August 4, 2010.

 

This contract is subject to the prevailing wage requirements of O.R.C. Section 4115.05.

 

No bids shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the opening thereof.  Awarding of the contract shall be to the Lowest and Best Contractor as determined by the Marion County Park District Board.

 

This Invitation to Bid is hereby made part of the specifications. The Marion County Park District Board reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids.
